Where Are You?

Where Are You?

Have you ever set pondering that question?
Sitting at my desk, of course.

Is that really the answer God would be looking for from me?

Where are you?
               Lost.
               Found.
               On a journey.
               Busy.

How would you answer that question if God asked you today, “Where are you?”
Is that question even talking about your location?

Psalm 139: 7-10 says:
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

God already knows where we are according to this passage.

But in Gen. 3:9, He asks Adam, “Where are you?” He asks Hagar in Gen. 16:8, “…where have you come from, and where are you going?”

If God knew where they were, what was He asking?

Maybe about the location of their heart.

Jesus, when he was confronted by the Pharisees and teachers of the law about ritual hand-washing in Matthew 15, quoted Isaiah 29:13:
“‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’”

No, He is not talking about location, but about their hearts. Adam had just eaten from the forbidden tree. Hagar was running away from her home with Abraham and Sarah in disobedience. He was looking for His wayward people.

So where are you? How’s your heart?

Are you following after Him?

Are you seeking Him above all else?

Have you gotten a little side-tracked in the busyness of life on planet earth?

How can you reconnect?

Start again?
